GUEST CHEF NIGHT

Guest Chef Nights at Social Crust Café & Catering feature a unique collaboration between some of Vancouver’s local top chefs with our Coast Mental Health Culinary Skills Training and Café Training Programs. Three times a year, we partner with renowned chefs to bring awareness to young adults recovering from mental health and employment barriers and highlight how our distinctive programs are helping change lives.

Featuring a 4-course menu specially crafted by the partnering chef, our culinary students and instructors assist in the preparation and service for the event. This opportunity also allows students to be a part of putting together an evening of incredible food to showcase the skills they gained from our training programs.

Our amazing sponsors donate products or services such as fresh, seasonal produce, floral décor, rental equipment or photography services. Guest Chef Night directly supports young adults in our training programs, which are entirely funded through philanthropy. We are very grateful for all the support from our partner chefs, sponsors, volunteers, and guests! Learn how you can be involved here.

NEXT GUEST CHEF NIGHT

On Thursday, February 27th Coast Mental Health Culinary Skills Training Program will host their 3rd Guest Chef Night with Chef Tyler Uguccioni from Cafe Di Beppe Restaurant here at Social Crust Cafe.

Tyler Uguccioni, the Chef de Cuisine for Di Beppe Ristorante, joined the Kitchen Table family in 2018.

His love of the mountains first brought him to British Columbia, where he worked at the Panorama Mountain Village ski resort as a cook. The experience inspired him to return to Ottawa to complete culinary training and pursue a career as a chef, with the goal of returning to B.C. to live and explore its wilderness.

He spent the next eight years in Ottawa working with several notable chefs, with an interest in expanding his techniques with new cuisines, cooking styles, and the craft of cooking in a restaurant. His curiosity serves him well in the kitchen. He believes it’s important to encourage creative thinking in kitchens, taking great satisfaction in seeing other aspiring chefs learn and grow as leaders.

The meal will be prepared by Chef Uguccioni and his team along with students from the Coast Mental Health Culinary Program. There will be two seatings to choose from 5 pm- 6:30 pm or 7 pm - 8:30 pm.

This evening is all about supporting this necessary and unique program that provides young people who struggle with mental health, opportunities to train and gain employment in Vancouver’s world class culinary industry.

Whether you’re a foodie or philanthropist, this night is not to be missed. The entire evening is staffed by volunteers and is being hosted by the Social Crust Café, a Coast Mental Health social enterprise initiative.
